Since 1980, Learning About Business has provided high school sophomores, juniors and seniors with a week-long mini-MBA experience, providing an interactive business simulation while fostering creative problem solving. Held on the beautiful campus of Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, LAB students get a taste of college life away from home. Students also have an opportunity to earn three college credits for their participation in LAB Week.

Lemonade Day is a national experiential education program that teaches children about business and entrepreneurship through the time-honored tradition of running a lemonade stand. Young Entrepreneur Institute directs all activities for Lemonade Day in Northeast Ohio and works with schools, organizations and individuals. Over 3,800 students across Northeast Ohio will participate in Lemonade Day this year.

I created Money Prodigy to prevent your child (and mine) from learning how to manage their money the hard-knocks way. I want your child to understand that money is a tool. And I want to help teach them how to use that tool. I also want to help open the lines of communication between you and your child about money so that if the times do get tough — and let’s face it, they do at some point in most people’s lives — they know they can always come to talk to you about things. In other words, as you use the resources + guidance I provide for you here, you’ll gradually move from managing their money life, to becoming a mentor who they can trust and come to with their money problems as a teen and young adult.

Since 2013, our team has been helping to coordinate local business fairs for kids to be able to create a business for a day and sell it to the community. We have seen 1000s of kids come up with brilliant business ideas, and each kid walked away with hundreds of dollars, and an incredible learning experience. Many students continued those businesses for years after the fair was over.

International Day for Failure started as an initiative of students at Aalto University in Finland before it became an annually celebrated global holiday.

The students reasoned that Finland needed an increase in small start-up businesses, but the typical Finn abhors failure and would be averse to start-ups. The fear of failing and the stigma that may follow discouraged many potential Finnish entrepreneurs from venturing, hence the idea of creating a day to celebrate failure which, they believed, would, in turn, remove the phobia for taking risks and invariably increase the number of startups. Did it work? Well, it’s International Day of Failure today. So we’d like to think it did.

Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is a global educational nonprofit focused on bringing the power of entrepreneurship to youth in low-income communities. NFTE’s rigorous programs are taught by a highly trained Teacher Corps, and NFTE students are supported by a diverse Volunteer Corps drawn from the local community, including business leaders and entrepreneurs. Since its founding more than 30 years ago, NFTE has trained thousands of teachers and educated more than a million young people worldwide.

This international program is designed to help students at all learning levels grow as individual learners, grow as team members, and to reach their full potential.
