On Tuesday, July 7, Young Entrepreneur Institute (YEI) welcomed more than 140 middle school students from Akron's 5th Quarter Summer Camps for an engaging day of creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurial thinking. Designed, organized, and facilitated by the YEI team, with support from Youth Success Summit, the experience introduced students to the entrepreneurial mindset through interactive, hands-on learning.

Throughout the day, YEI guided students through a series of activities that challenged them to identify real-world problems, collaborate in teams to develop innovative solutions, and confidently pitch their ideas before an auditorium filled with fellow campers, educators, and program leaders. The carefully designed program helped students strengthen critical thinking, teamwork, communication, creativity, and presentation skills while experiencing the innovation process firsthand.

The event also served as the kickoff for the next phase of Akron's 5th Quarter Summer Camps. Building on the entrepreneurial mindset and problem-solving strategies introduced by Young Entrepreneur Institute, each camp will now embark on its own Problem-Based Learning (PBL) experience, designed and led by Akron Public Schools teachers and centered around unique themes.

Experiences like this help YEI equip students with the confidence and skills to think creatively, solve meaningful problems, and see themselves as future innovators and leaders.

Thank you to the Akron Community Foundation for supporting this program. Thanks also to Youth Success Summit, City of Akron Mayor's Office, GAR Foundation, and The Wallace Foundation for their continued support of the 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program and its network of providers.
